I’m trying to brainstorm ideas of things that a group of 25 4th graders could do in an hour (or less) during their classroom Valentines Day party. Something to carry the grade school theme of ‘friendship & caring’ which is more what V-Day is about, at that age. I want it to be a fun party for them, but would also like them to feel that good feeling you get when you do something for others.
If nothing else, I’ll have a table where they can write letters & cards to the troops or to seniors at local nursing homes. Or, possibly, I’ll have them tie up & decorate a fleece blanket or two, to donate to a local hospital children’s ward through Project Linus.
Do you have any other ideas for me?

I like you suggestions already. What about asking the kids for donations of old clothing, blankets, toys to donate to the local shelters in their class’ name? They can even take a class picture to include with the donation.

In 4th grade on V-day each person had a big cutout heart and a pad of heart sticky notes. They walk around the room and write a nice thing about each person. Then they stick the sticky note (with the compliment on it) to the person’s big heart. The comments all turned out really nice and I still have mine
