Could I get into an Ivy School?
I’m currently a sophomore but this is what I plan on having by my senior year:
Ethnicity: I’m African-American.
Unweighted GPA: 3.7-3.8 Weighted: 5.0-5.3
APs: World History, Psychology, Language, Statistics, US History, Literature, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, European History, and Calculus (idk whether AB or BC yet)
SATs plan on getting around 700s for all three sections
ECs:
Really big on theatre, have already had and will have big roles. Got 2 Superiors (highest ranking) at Individual Events Districts, competing at States. And more awards like those to come seeing as I’m only a sophomore.
Clubs:
Key Club: 9,10
Beta Club: 11,12
Drama/Thespians: 9,10,11,12 (will have leadership positions in 11&12)
National Honor Society: 11,12
Mu Alpha Theta: 11,12 (planing on competing in competitions)
Going to have around 100 hours of community service.
Schools that I’m for sure applying to are University of Miami, University of Florida, and Florida State University. Wondering if I have a chance at a few Ivies like Dartnouth or Cornell?

Don’t assume that you will do something, do it first. I would take the SAT and try to get the 700s on each section first and then talk.
Anyways if that happens to be the case then you would have an excellent chance at a lot of the Ivies. Why aim for Cornell and Dartmouth? Why not go for Harvard and Yale?
Do not listen to answerer below, a GPA of 3.5 or above is good enough for an Ivy.
January 15th, 2010 at 4:38 pmI agree- right now we cant help very much. It all rests on your sat/act scores. Right now, unless you get 700+, the answer is no- a 3.7 simply wont do it- you need an almost perfect 4.0. But the other schools would all be fine with that- but its all on that sat score right now.
