   There are several things you haven’t stated that may help. Firstly, are you worried about getting in anywhere at all, or do you have a set of standards for a prospective university you wish to get into? Secondly, with your marginal GPA, your SAT scores will probably make a huge difference. I’d suggest trying to nail the SAT, if you can. Moreover, take it twice, if you have the time. You’re already in hot water if you’re already in senior year and haven’t taken it yet. That will probably really open up options for you. Also, what kinds of other things can you put in your application, such as extracurricular activities, awards, and such?

   In other words, if you have a 2.66 GPA, and want to get into Stanford, you’re probably out of luck, almost regardless of what you do. If you have a 2.66 GPA, have bad SAT scores, and no other soft deciding factors to speak of, you may get in somewhere, but community may be something you should focus on. If you have a 2.66 GPA, do reasonably well on the SAT, and do a fair number of extracurricular activities, it would be worth your while to look into four-year universities.

   That being said, going to community first isn’t necessarily a bad choice, anyway. It will save you a considerable amount of money. But, you’ll not get two years of university socialization either. It’s kind of give and take.

   I wouldn’t hold my breath. Due to budget cuts many 4year Universities are turning down even 4.0 students. Community Colleges take anyone so that’s a plus for you.

   As for Universities many of them aren’t accepting students same goes for Cal-States.

   None of this means you shouldn’t try. Apply anyway! But do not be disappointed if and when the letter comes back saying you didn’t get in. You’d be one of thousands (if not millions) of Californians who are facing that very same situation.

   So in the end:
   4year Universities – Don’t hold your breath but apply anyway!
   Community College – They take anyone. Literally, anyone. You have your pick especially with a 2.66 but just know those are getting crowded fast!

   P.S. I’m a High School Senior too .-.
