Trespassers getting away?

<< I need an Opinion on Two Stories that are interchangeable?  how to solve the middle east crisis? >>

Today my mom caught this one guy who is known to take short cut through her senior citizen community. He usually sprints through the place, so no one bother to try follows him. But today he was just walking, so she went up to him and started to yell at him that he shouldn’t be around and to get out. He just ignores her and continues, but she wanted to find out where this guy live so she can talk to his parents. So she keep on following him, soon she realize he was leading her in a circle, so she got mad and start to yells at him even more.
The guy end up went to corner of the wall and wouldn’t move at all and just stare at her. She told him he have used short cut enough and that this is a private community and she want to talk to his parents. The guy just stood there for about 10 mins saying nothing, so my mom got frustrated. So she grabs him by the wrist, suddenly he punched her so hard that her broke. The guy then somehow scaled the 12 feet wall and escaped.
My mom called me and I came over, I was upset about this whole thing. I tried to call the police but when they came, they says that since my mom was following him around and put her hand on him, there’s not much he can do since he was basically defending himself. They say she should have called whenever she saw him, but this is absurd. If she tried to call the police, he’d be out of the place by then, so it’d never work.
Now my mom has a broke jaw and polices who won’t even take any side. I don’t know what to do now. I’m so furious about this.

Sorry, this one is your mothers fault. She is the one that instigated the whole scenario. She did not have the right to yell at him, follow him and put her hands on him. He could sue her for harassment and probably win.
She should have just called the Police. What is the big deal about him walking through the community? If he isn’t causing any harm, let him alone.

I understand your frustration in the matter and you should be there to comfort your mom, but she should not have gone after him. You should tell her not to go after strange people because she is not sure what they could do.

The police are correct in saying because your mom followed him and she touched him first, he had every right to punch her. He was defending himself. She is lucky he didn’t have a gun on him, because in some states she could have been shot dead and it would have been considered self-defense. She shouldn’t have put herself into that situation.

If they are that concerned with this boy coming through the private property then they should see about getting a fence put around the perimeter.
