How to Best Secure Our New Home?

We just bought our first home. It was previously occupied by tenants. So far, we haven’t done anything to secure it because it was being termited. We are not sure what needs to be done beyond changing the locks. The front and back doors/screen doors are not security doors. Should we get those changed? How much does a new door cost? Also, should we get a security system like Brinks? Or just get window alarms?

Ask around your neighborhood and see if there have been many break-ins. I just bought a new home but there were new previous tenants. It is alarm system ready but we aren’t putting one in. There has been 1 break in on our street that I know if and the neighborhood is less than 1 year old.
I also have 2 dogs. So I’m not to worried about people breaking in. They are scary (but harmless unless threatened!) Alarm systems are expensive to install and to pay for monthly, but if you can afford it, then go for it. Otherwise, change your locks and do your best to keep doors locked and be aware of your surroundings!
