Can you cancel a APX Security Contract?
Two months ago my wife was duped into having an APX Security System installed by a door to door salesman. She failed to share any of the fine print with me and now that charges have started showing up I find out that she signed up for a five year monitoring contract with APX at per month. There is a local reputable company that will provide the same service for per month. Naturally I would like to cancel my service with APX but when I contacted them to cancel the contract they are telling me that it cannot be cancelled without paying the entire 60 months of monitoring (less the two months we have been billed) that is over ,600. The only other option is to get someone else I know to take over our contract and agree to have an APX Alarm installed in their home. I am fuming over this, does anyone know if there is a legal way to get out of this type of contract without spending a fortune on attorney fees? Please learn from our mistake and do not agree to do business with APX Security Solutions.

What i can’t understand about your situation is why it is the company’s fault. Did they do something wrong? Does the system not work? If anything it sunds like it is your wife’s fault. If the system works and the company is doing its part of the contract i don’t see why you would push others from getting their service. Nearly every alarm company makes you sign a contract, even ADT or Brinks. The only way I have found to avoid a contract is to buy the equipment but that can be just as expensive as buying out the contract many times. I sadly do not have an answer on how to get out of it but wish you good luck.
