Where to get a home security system (alarm) for free?

I live in Ky. My husband and I are interested in getting a security system for our home. Where can I find a good company that has a free offer or something? I know that adt does something like that but you have to pay a installation fee. Is that due after the put the system in? or before they come and do it? I tried protect america, but they want a 0 non refundable deposit due to our credit. I really don’t want to pay 0 knowing it will never be returned. Thanks in advance and any help is appreciated!!

I don’t know of any free Home Security System, but I do know some cheap alternatives:
Put "Beware of Dog" signs in your windows.
Put a large dog food bowl on your porch (even better if the bowl says "Killer" on it). Put the largest raw hide bone you can find next to the bowl (even better if you can get some dog to chew it up a bit).
Spike a heavy-duty chain leash into your lawn…attach heavy-duty black leather collar to the leash (the kind of collar that has cleats on it).
Leave your porch lights on at night…all night.
Install a fake security camera. Don’t tell anyone it is fake…not even close friends. Make sure the camera is in a very visible spot.

September 7th, 2009 at 9:32 pmSorry, but if your credit is bad, your almost guaranteed to have to pay at least a $99 activation fee, and they would probably set you up on an automatic withdrawal billing method. Many companies will do free installation and free equipment with good credit, but you will be hard pressed to find a good one that allows it for bad credit.
September 7th, 2009 at 9:32 pmWhere is anything for free? $99 is actually pretty cheap, and that’s due before or at installation. Usually they can apply it to the credit card you use for security, kinda like the satellite companies do.

September 7th, 2009 at 9:32 pmYou can get ADT FREE! I got mine installed couple weeks ago. I found an authorized retailer for ADT and they do installations nationwide.
There is no cost when you order over the phone. At the time of installation I paid $99 installation fee and week later I received $100 gift card. They also gave me free key chain remote so I can disable/enable my alarm from my driveway. So I only spent $99 once it was installed. They did not charge my card or anything like that.
my monitoring service is $35 per month.
You have to have a credit score of 600 and up. If you do not, you can always use your husbands info. I actually put it in my mothers name because my credit was short by 5 points.
Call this company, they are very knowledgeable and they will work with you. They do installations nationwide. There are not very big so you don’t have to wait on hold and press bunch of numbers. That’s what I liked too

PS: $99 is after the install, not before.

September 8th, 2009 at 12:15 amFree Security Systems are not FREE! $35 per month is an outrageos price to pay for monitoring. You should just pay the 200-300 upfront to get a wireless security system from GeoArm or another company, and then pay the $10 per month monitoring rate.. And you’ll get better service than ADT or somebody who is giving you a free system then screwing you into a long term contract. DONT FALL FOR THE TRAP. Start saving money after only a few months!!
September 8th, 2009 at 10:55 amYou can do a lot of low cost, simple things to increase the security of your home – nonbumpable locks, outdoor lighting, landscape designed for deterrence, etc. Unfortunately many of the companies that claim to be free actually end up costing more due to false alarm fines and equipment service fees.
